Built to stand apart from generic barber brands, Gilotyna combines medieval inspiration with modern barbershop culture.

A name like Gilotyna can easily feel aggressive or overdone. The challenge was to build an identity that embraced the sharpness and historical weight behind the name without losing the premium and welcoming atmosphere expected from a modern barbershop.

solution

The identity combines medieval-inspired typography with a sharp guillotine silhouette to create a logo that feels bold, recognizable and instantly ownable. The color palette balances deep charcoal tones with warm whiskey-inspired accents and soft neutrals, helping the brand feel distinctive without becoming cold or unapproachable.

Gilotyna is a visual identity created for two barbers launching their first independent barbershop. The goal was to build a brand that feels bold, recognizable and impossible to confuse with traditional minimalist barber brands.

The Story Behind the Name

The name Gilotyna (Guillotine) was chosen to reflect the sharp and uncompromising energy behind the brand. Despite the darker historical reference, the founders themselves are approachable, open-minded and deeply passionate about their craft. That contrast became the foundation for the entire visual direction.

The goal was to create an identity that feels bold and instantly recognizable both online and inside the physical space.

Beyond the logo

The system extends across every touchpoint, from business cards and menus to aprons, signage and merchandise.

To balance the darker tone of the brand, I created a set of playful custom illustrations inspired by barber tools and guillotine references. These assets later evolved into sticker packs and apparel, turning clients into natural brand ambassadors.

I also designed full 3D visualizations of the interior, allowing the founders to preview the atmosphere, test furniture layouts and make purchasing decisions before investing in the physical space.

A bold and recognizable identity designed to stand apart from traditional barber branding while still feeling premium, modern and approachable.
